The Department of Botany was established in 1954. Formerly it was affiliated to Osmania university of Hyderabad state of Nizam Government. After the formation of Maharashtra state it was affiliated to Marathwada University, Aurangabad in 1960. The Botany department is one of the oldest departments from this college. A number of students have got jobs in various services of state & Central Government and some students are fully engaged in research institutes, Private organizations & different companies and even abroad. The students passed out from this department have got opportunities in various fields of Life Sciences like Forestry, Agriculture, Pharmaceutical, Biotechnology, Environment, Genetics, Plant Breeding, Plant Pathology, Taxonomy, Forensic Science & Plant Tissue Culture Industry.

Department is enriched by various equipment like Plant Growth chamber, Incubator, Oven, Muffle furnace, Water bath, Laminar Air Flow, Vertical Microscope with Camera etc. Department has required chemicals, Glassware and Plant materials in preserved and live forms. Department has audio visual facilities in the form of equipment like K-yan. Smart board, Computers. The lectures are conducted using these ICT based facilities. Department has Two well-equipped laboratories, Museum cum Smart Classroom. Museum has preserved plant materials, Herbarium, Models, Charts Cones and wood samples of various kinds.

This department offers UG courses for students. It conducts various activities for students like seminars, field visits, plant exhibition, plant of the week, tree plantation, conferences, workshops and guest lecturers of expertise. All faculty take efforts to maintain quality of teaching with subject skills, and modern information technology. This is a vital strength of the department. Results of the subjects have been quite good for the last five years.
